A great tag game for grades K-3.
Submitted by Mary McMullen, Sublette, Kansas.
This is an activity that my kids beg to play. It gets their hearts pumping and it doesn’t take a lot of equipment. I hope you will find it useful.
Equipment: “Ghostbusters” music by Ray Parker Jr., Two pinnies
How to Play: Select two (or more depending on the size of the class) students to be the Ghostbusters. The Ghostbusters wear the pinnies. The rest of the class will be “ghosts.”
Each Ghostbuster will tag as many ghosts as possible. When ghosts are tagged, they must go to a designated containment area. Here they will get a short time to recover.
As the music plays, whenever the song says “Ghostbusters,” (I shout “Ghostbusters!” also) the ghosts are released from the containment area. About halfway through the song the music is stopped and everyone freezes. Two new Ghostbusters are chosen and a new game begins.
Those in the containment area remain there until I say “Ghostbusters!”
