Here is a way for students to work together and assess each other’s skills.
Submitted by Angie Cyr from Stillwater, Oklahoma. K-3

Background: I’m always looking for great activities and games to excite my students to work together and assess their skills in a practical way.

How We Do It: Here is a collection of student assessment sheets that were developed from No Standing Around My Gym by Human Kinetics Publishing Company. I would like to give him credit for the wonderful pictures and write-up of the skills used in my assessments.

These are examples of student self-assessment checklists we have developed for soccer and basketball skills. Each student assessment sheet provides a diagram of the assessment station set up in the gym or outside, a short description of the station activity, and a checklist of the individual and/or group behaviors/skills we are assessing. Each sheet is printed front and back with three assessments per side. This provides us with six opportunities to get feedback on our students’ progress.
