A fun warm-up activity for grades 3-6.

This is a great activity that can be used as a lead-up game for a bowling unit or for a fun cardiovascular warm-up!

Equipment: 15-20 large foam balls, 15-20 beanbags,  ”Jump (For My Love)” by the Pointer Sisters and record player

How We Do It: Divide the class into two groups. Each group is positioned on one half of the gym. The students are given either a large foam ball or a beanbag. Simulating the swinging motion of bowling, the students “bowl” the beanbags or foam balls to the other side of the gym.

At the same time, the students will be dodging the beanbags and balls by jumping, stopping, changing directions, etc. Students can retrieve a ball or beanbag when it stops moving or hits the back wall.

The balls and beanbags can then be rolled back to the other side.

Play the song “Jump (For My Love)” for a great cardiovascular warm-up. We do not allow our students to have more than one beanbag or ball at a time.

This helps all of the students to be more active by striving to get a ball or beanbag for their own.
