Here are a few cooperative activities for your K-3 students!
Submitted by Barb Ettl, Indiana.

Name of Activity: Back to Back

Skills: Locomotor Skills

Play Area: Gym or outdoors

Equipment: None

Formation: Students stand back-to-back

Procedure: The teacher calls out a certain locomotor skill to the group. (For example: “Walk.”) The students then walk around the gym. When the teacher calls “Back-to-Back,” all of the students must quickly find a new partner and get back to back. Continue the game by calling out other locomotor skills.
Name of Activity: Trust Mobile

Skills: Cooperation Skills

Play Area: Gym or outdoors

Equipment: None

Formation: Students in pairs

Procedure: The students are in pairs, with one person standing in front of the other. The back person “guides” the partner around the room without bumping into objects.

The front partner should keep his or her eyes closed as the driver steers the “car.” After a short “drive around the block,” have the partners exchange positions and begin again!
