Designate two lines (marked by cones or lines on the basketball court) that are about 30 feet apart. Each line is further designated as the “Red” or “Blue” line. Divide the class into two groups and assign a group to each of the two lines to start the activity as seen below:
Direct the students in both groups to find a partner and begin playing a game of “Rock-Paper-Scissors.” Players that lose (rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock) move to the “Blue Line.” Players that win move to the “Red Line.” If a winner is already at the Red Line, he finds another person to play. If a loser is already at the Blue Line, he waits to find another person to play as well. The activity continues as the players travel back-and-forth between the two lines. Play for 2-3 minutes or as time and student interest dictate.
